The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, received a delegation from the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) Committee on Trade, Customs and Immigration Matters at his office in Accra.
The delegation, led by Hon. Rodney Cloete, a Member of Parliament from Namibia, is in Ghana as part of a four-day mission to evaluate the country’s implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Guided Trade Initiative and to advocate for the ratification of the African Union Protocol on Free Movement of Persons.

Welcoming the team, Hon. Muntaka, who is himself a former member of the Pan-African Parliament with over a decade of service, expressed his delight at the visit and commended the committee’s efforts to promote integration and economic cooperation across the continent.
“As a former member of the Pan-African Parliament, I warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed deep enthusiasm for our fruitful dialogue,” he stated. “Our discussions centered on strategies to strengthen intra-African trade, foster peaceful coexistence, and deepen regional integration.”
The meeting also explored measures to remove barriers to visa-free travel and enhance border efficiency, which the Minister noted are key to facilitating free movement and realizing the full potential of AfCFTA.
The committee reaffirmed the immense potential of the continental trade initiative to drive sustainable economic growth, while emphasizing the importance of political will and institutional collaboration among African states.
The engagement forms part of the Pan-African Parliament’s ongoing advocacy for policies that promote unity, mobility, and development across the African continent.
